Ayurvedic Digestion and Nutrition Consultations
INITITAL CONSULTATION:
The initial consultation will introduce you to the principles of Ayurveda which is an ancient science that roughly translates as the Study of Life. Life has many facets including body, mind and spirit and we all thrive when those aspects are in harmony with each other and with the environment that we live in. During this consultation we will discuss your issues and the details of your current diet and lifestyle and look for possible imbalances and discuss whether or not Ayurvedic principles can be effectively used to fulfill your health goals. If we do not agree that Ayurvedic principles might benefit you, the cost of the consultation will be refunded.
REVIEW PROTOCOL – Our second meeting will be a review of a plan that is prepared based on imbalances that were discovered during the initial consultation. Ayurveda teaches us that digestion is immensely important. But digestion in an Ayurvedic sense includes not only digestion of food and the use of food as medicine, but the digestion of thought and emotions which, if improperly digested will lead to physical and mental imbalances. So an Ayurvedic lifestyle includes eating wonderful healthy foods that are compatible with your personal constitution and compatible with any current imbalances that may be present. An appropriate diet is combined with changes to your daily rhythm to enhance your health and well being. An Ayurvedic lifestyle includes setting up a regular schedule for eating, sleeping, exercising and spiritual practices. Spiritual practices can include prayer and meditation, but they also include spending time in nature, being exposed to uplifting activities whether that be reading or gardening or running a 5K or attending a yoga class and everything in between. These are activities that make your soul sing. The plan is highly personalized. Some people only need to have a plan, and off they go to implement it on their own. Most of us need a bit of help since habits are notoriously difficult to change sometimes. The help can range from simple reminders to perform a daily activity to specific help with meal planning or conversations and advice on managing stress. We’ll provide whatever level of support works for you. For most of us, changes are best made slowly so that they become part of our daily lives without any effort. As you go through the coaching process we will adjust how fast to make the changes so that the changes are comfortable and rewarding.
Follow up Consultations – It’s important to note that imbalances change. They change with the seasons, with the weather, with your stress level and with your health. So if things don’t feel quite right or you’re having difficulty implementing your protocol, let’s talk and see if we can get to the bottom of it.
